Leonardo Semplici admits SPAL have “lost some of the balance we had last season” and a deflected goal changed the game with Juventus.

Miralem Pjanic and Cristiano Ronaldo got a goal either side of half-time in Turin for a 2-0 result, although it would’ve been more if not for Etrit Berisha heroics.

“We knew that we were facing the strongest team in Italy, but we held out well in the first half and limited their capabilities,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We knew that we were facing the strongest team in Italy, but we held out well in the first half and limited their capabilities,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Unfortunately, the deflected Pjanic shot went in on the stroke of half-time, which messed up our plans and we went back into the dressing room a little deflated.

“We tried to fight back, but could’ve done better on the second goal and eventually Juve’s quality shone through. We must continue working with intensity and trust that we’ll achieve our target of safety at the end.

“Obviously, we need to improve, but many of these players are in their first Serie A campaign. We are struggling a little on counter-attacks and have lost some of the balance we had last season, but we are working on it and need a little patience.”
