There are reports Sassuolo are considering Coach Roberto De Zerbi’s future after last night’s 4-1 home defeat to Atalanta.

That was their fourth loss in six Serie A games this season, although they had won both home fixtures before this setback.

After the game, De Zerbi did not go to the traditional television post-match interview, as he had an extended meeting in the dressing room with players and staff.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Sassuolo are seriously considering a dismissal and the clash with Brescia next Friday will be decisive.

After a long delay, De Zerbi did make it to the Press conference and was asked about the situation.

“When you lose like that, there are many problems to look at. The events push us to consider our mental, technical and tactical preparation.

“We fall apart too easily, are too fragile and that must be my responsibility, but when something goes wrong in a game, we lose all our focus.”

After a 4-2 loss at Roma, this is the second time Sassuolo have found themselves 4-0 down in the opening 35 minutes.

“If we look at the six games so far, which one is the real Sassuolo? The team that beat Sampdoria and SPAL, or the side that lost to Atalanta and Roma?

“I train every week the same way, but there is a mental frailty that means we crumble at the first sign of difficulty. I spoke to the team, they know it’s a problem, but I don’t know how quickly it can be resolved, if it can ever be resolved.”
