SPAL Coach Leonardo Semplici was unhappy with Krzysztof Piatek and Ismael Bennacer after his side’s 1-0 defeat to Milan last night.

Suso came off the bench to score the winner for Milan, but the result didn’t go down well with Semplici, who felt Piatek wrongly tried to con the referee into awarding a penalty and that Bennacer should have been sent off.

“I’m angry because Milan deserved to win, but I’d like to watch back the goal and Piatek’s position, plus the possible second yellow for Bennacer,” said Semplici to Sky Sport after the match.

The result left SPAL stranded in the relegation zone, with a missed opportunity to climb out of the bottom three.

“We are small and of little interest to people, but we work hard to do what we need to, like everyone else. Maybe we would have lost anyway, but…

“We have to look for improvements in various aspects of our game and we know what we need to do.

“It did not go how we wanted, but we know our path and we’re convinced we will come through this complicated situation.”

The Biancazzurri have a crucial game coming up against fellow strugglers Sampdoria on Monday.
