Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic has reportedly been spotted in Qatar undergoing his medical with Al Duhail, the club he almost joined in the summer.

This would allow him to reunite with former Bianconeri teammate Medhi Benatia.

There had been strong reports the Croatia international was heading out to Qatar over the weekend to finalise his transfer.

Sky Sport Italia claim Juve will pocket €5m from the deal, while Mandzukic will earn €7.5m per season for 18 months.

He had also been linked with moves within Europe, to Manchester United and Milan, but Qatar always seemed a likelier option.

MLS was an alternative too for the 33-year-old, who was told from pre-season that he was not in new Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri’s plans.

He had joined the Bianconeri from Atletico Madrid in 2015 and leaves with 162 competitive games under his belt, in which he scored 44 goals and provided 18 assists.

Juventus are currently in Saudi Arabia, as they face Lazio for the Italian Super Cup today in Riyadh.
