“There are no regrets that we didn’t score more goals. There is the awareness that we played a good first half, scoring a goal and keeping a clean sheet on home turf,” the former Roma coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was natural we’d be under pressure after the break, especially when Higuain and Bernardeschi added two forwards to the mix. We fought hard in the second half to hold on to this victory and this 1-0 advantage in the tie.

“It’s true that we were a little timid in the first 10 minutes of the game, but then we spread the play and that caused a lot of problems for the Juventus defence, putting several dangerous crosses into the box.

“We had hoped not to be under so much pressure after the break, but it was to be expected against a great side like Juventus. Now we are only halfway through the tie, we want to score a goal in Turin and hope to qualify for the quarter-final.”
