Spanish newspaper Sport claims Lautaro Martinez has agreed personal terms with Barcelona worth €12m per year, but Inter are refusing to budge from his €111m release clause.

According to the paper, which was also quoted in Argentina by Clarin and Italy by other sources, points to an apparent five-year contract worth €12m plus performance-related bonuses.

It’s a huge proposal for the 22-year-old striker, who only joined Inter from Racing Club Avellaneda in the summer of 2018 for €25m.

It’s a huge proposal for the 22-year-old striker, who only joined Inter from Racing Club Avellaneda in the summer of 2018 for €25m.

He scored 16 goals with four assists in 31 competitive games this season and has become a regular starter for Argentina, with nine goals in 17 caps.

However, Sport also notes that Inter are refusing to negotiate a deal for Lautaro Martinez, relying instead on the €111m release clause in his contract.

That is only valid for a few weeks and must be paid in one sum, which would stretch the current Blaugrana budget.

It’s widely reported that if Lautaro Martinez doesn’t go to Barcelona, then he is happy to remain with Inter and will not force the issue.

Premier League interest from Manchester United and Chelsea is not going to sway him at this point.
