Italy CT Roberto Mancini has praised Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi and expects his Azzurri stars to prepare well for Euro 2020 next year.

The European Championship was postponed due to the global pandemic and Mancini has claimed Italy face a tough challenge in the group including Switzerland, Turkey and Wales next summer.

“We were ready for everyone. Everything was set up,” Mancini told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “It wouldn’t have been an easy group, as many thinks, and it won’t be in a year’s time.

“Switzerland have been tough for us historically, they have quality players in top clubs and a good coach like [Vladimir] Petkovic, who knows us well.

“But we will be ready for the upcoming European Championship too.”

Ahead of tonight’s Coppa Italia Final, Mancini is happy to see some of his stars gain vital experience in a big game and two of the Italy internationals clashing tonight are Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi.

“Insigne has always done well with the national team. With Gattuso he has found enthusiasm and belief,” Mancini said about the Partenopei captain. “He is the soul. Napoli offers him a tactical style very similar to the one he has with us and it certainly helps him.

“Bernardeschi is another one who has always done well with us. He is fast, good technique, he can play at right or at left.

“A lot depends on him too. He must do his best to establish himself at Juventus and play regularly.”

Mancini urges the younger players to grab the opportunities on offer at top level and claimed Giovanni Di Lorenzo, who moved to Napoli last summer, has been helped by playing in the Champions League.

“Playing in important matches and experiencing the Champions League has certainly helped him grow,” Mancini added. “That’s always my desire for our younger players."
