“I thought the game was balanced until the red card,” Liverani told Sky Sport Italia.

“We were trying to close the spaces and break. It’s difficult to comment on the game, given all the players we have missing.

“We were playing well until the red card. It’s normal that right now, with all the players missing and our problems, giving away a few too many gifts, everything becomes more complicated.

“The goals we concede are statistics, it changes nothing for me. The team must keep improving and get players back.

“We’re thinking about playing games to rest some players and get back others. Maybe then, the enthusiasm we had before the lockdown will return.

“We’re like a young lad who goes from reception class to junior school. Instead of graduating to secondary, he goes back to reception.

“It’s almost impossible to train. We train by playing. Our attitude was good when it was 11 against 11.

“Then, the players who came on changed little because of our numerical inferiority. Maybe with all the players available, I could’ve made different moves.

“Right now, I have a maximum of 14 players available. I’m sure that with a bit of luck, getting back some of the lads, we’ll have our say in the relegation battle.”
