“It’s a six-pointer and crucial, although it’s not definitive because there are still nine games left,” Liverani said at a press conference.

“Having said that, it’ll be a very important game. We’ll play it with attention and focus: I don’t expect a beautiful match, but I do expect a hard-fought and careful one.

“Whoever makes the least mistakes has the best chance of winning it.”

Lecce went down 4-0 to Juventus last time out, but they were very much in the contest before Fabio Lucioni’s red card, conceding all four goals after he left the field.

“I saw the team play with rhythm, intensity and a certain type of game against Juventus, the result aside.

“There’s already been signs of growth between the matches against Milan and Juventus.

“It’s clear that we’re still not the team we were before lockdown, but we’re getting closer to the game, mentality and squad we’d like.”
