The former RB Leipzig and Schalke 04 coach has agreed to terminate his contract with Red Bull one year early and La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the German wants a new job in a dugout, rather than behind a director’s desk.

Milan have been linked with Rangnick since the start of the year and Red Bull reportedly asked for an €8m compensation to let the director move to Italy.

Reports in Italy claimed CEO Ivan Gazidis was willing to give him full sporting power at San Siro and offer him a manager role in Via Aldo Rossi, but earlier this month, the German’s representatives confirmed the 62-year-old had abandoned the deal.

Milan, on the other hand, have claimed Stefano Pioli was the natural choice and have since confirmed the former Fiorentina coach until June 2022, whilst Rangnick has continued to emerge in links with coaching positions elsewhere.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Rangnick would prefer a move to the English Premier League.
