“If we get a result here, it keeps us in the running for our target. We are aware of it and also managed to prepare in the best way by missing Tuesday’s game.

“We feel confident that we can put in a good performance,” the director told DAZN.

Tuesday’s fixture with Torino was postponed due to a COVID outbreak in the Granata camp, so Lazio effectively got the week off after their defeat to Bologna.

“There are some explanations for what happened recently, but when you lose, you must always try to react. There were some moments that were more psychological than physical, but I think we’re third in terms of points earned from January onwards.

“We’ve had a good season so far and have to do even better. We must try to win, it is a mature team and we trust we can do it.”
