Nicola Legrottaglie is desperate to score five League goals for Catania this season. “I’ll ask to take the penalties…”

The centre-back has netted four in 22 Serie A games for the Sicilian club so far and he wants one more before the campaign is over.

“I want to get five goals in the championship,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “If that doesn’t happen soon then I’ll ask Ciccio Lodi to let me take a penalty.”

The 35-year-old’s previous best was four in 30 ties for Chievo Verona during the 2002-03 campaign.

Catania have been a revelation so far this term and they are currently joint seventh in the Division thanks to 41 points from 28 games.

“Our first objective was to ensure survival, but now that we have reached 40 points our next target is 50,” continued the former Italian international.

“After that, we may even be able to qualify for the Europa League…”

Catania hired Coach Vincenzo Montella in the summer after Roma opted to go for Luis Enrique.
