Milan director Barbara Berlusconi has wished Roma good luck for their project, describing Milan’s weekend opponents as this season’s ‘breath of fresh air’.
The Giallorossi travel to San Siro this weekend to face the team Berlusconi’s father Silvio still holds the position as President at.
On that encounter that could see the Rossoneri stretch their lead at the top of the table to seven points before Juventus play Inter, Berlusconi first took time to speak of the need to win.
“The game may be critical,” commented Berlusconi to ANSA when outside Milan’s headquarters.
“All matches now are going to be critical. Roma are a strong team and are unpredictable, but, I have confidence in Milan, since these past few weeks.
“The team demonstrated in the match with Juventus in midweek through a good performance - they know how to impose their game even when they are playing with many absences.”
On weekend opponents Roma, Berlusconi welcomed the project they have implemented this season, spearheaded by Thomas Di Benedetto’s takeover, Franco Baldini’s focus on youth and Luis Enrique’s tactical changes.
“I want to congratulate Roma because they have been a breath of fresh air in the Italian football scene.
“First, because they have had the courage to bet on young talent. Theirs is a technically ambitious project which, I hope, will bring good results in the medium to long term.
“Besides, with the agreement with Walt Disney and through other commercial operations that I consider interesting and innovative, they show that they understand the future of football clubs.
“The club will be structured as a true entertainment company offering entertainment and services even outside the 90 minutes of a game.”
