Pasquale Marino says Genoa are gambling with “three fundamental points for our future” against Fiorentina.
Both sides had high hopes for Europe this season, but instead find themselves trying to avoid the relegation tussle.
“Fiorentina are a team who, like us, certainly do not deserve their current position in the standings,” argued Marino.
“They have players of great quality, above all Stevan Jovetic and Amauri. Our objective is to repeat the good performance last Monday against Roma, but we absolutely have to bring home the victory.
“These are three fundamental points for our future that can allow us to be relaxed for the rest of the season.”
It’s a special match for ex-Viola stars Alberto Gilardino and Sebastien Frey, who now wear the Genoa jersey.
“Gila and Frey are very important players for my team and have been for Fiorentina in the past. I am clearly happy to have them at my disposal.”
