Fernando Torres’ agent has confirmed that rumours linking Chelsea’s Spanish striker with a summer switch to Roma are untrue.

Earlier this week, calcioonline.com reported that the rebuilding, American-owned Giallorossi had expressed an interest in the forward Chelsea paid £50m to sign in January 2011.

Reportedly, director general Franco Baldini had made contact in an attempt to link the recently-turned 28-year-old with compatriot Luis Enrique.

However, as the player’s agent revealed today, those reports are so far unfounded.

“We know of the new American project at Roma and the idea of how to play by Luis Enrique,” Antonio Sanz told PagineRomaniste.com on Thursday.

“If Roma want Fernando then they have to talk to Chelsea. The Italian League remains consistently high, but currently there are no ongoing negotiations with Roma.

“Fernando still has another four years on his contract at Chelsea.
