Alessandro Del Piero snubbed offers from Manchester United and Barcelona to stay at Juventus, his former agent has revealed.
“Del Piero is Juventus,” Claudio Pasqualin told TMW on Friday afternoon. “During the prime of his career he rejected Manchester United and Barcelona. He did that for love.”
As it stands, the 37-year-old will leave his beloved Old Lady in the summer once his contract expires.
“His future has to be Juventus,” the representative continued. “I hope that [President Andrea] Agnelli can make a U-turn on the decision made.
“I hope he can play for another season and then take up a role as a director at the club. Juventus wouldn’t be making a mistake in keeping him.
“That happened with Pavel Nedved too. Del Piero is part of Juventus history and he therefore should also remain.”
Del Piero joined the Bianconeri in the summer of 1993 from Padova. He’s being tipped to continue his playing career abroad.
