Antonio Cassano is back in the Milan squad to face Fiorentina and Massimiliano Allegri confirms “he could be on the bench.”
The striker has been out of action since suffering a mini-stroke on the way back from a 3-2 win at Roma on October 29.
He underwent surgery to correct the congenital heart defect that caused it and was given the all-clear this week to resume his professional career.
Cassano is named in the 19-man squad for Saturday’s match with Fiorentina.
“Antonio is fine physically, of course for what he can be in his condition. He has so much class and this can compensate for a lack of shape,” commented Coach Allegri. “There is a good chance he will be called up and on the bench.”
Absentees for this game are Alessandro Nesta, Mark van Bommel, Thiago Silva, Clarence Seedorf, Djamel Mesbah, Alexander Merkel, Pippo Inzaghi, Alexandre Pato, Rodney Strasser, Flavio Roma and Mathieu Flamini.
Milan squad: Abbiati, Amelia, Abate, Bonera, De Sciglio, Mexes, Zambrotta, Yepes, Ambrosini, Aquilani, Emanuelson, Gattuso, Muntari, Nocerino, Cassano, El Shaarawy, Ibrahimovic, Maxi Lopez, Robinho
