Brazilian defender Juan could join Flamengo in the summer if he can agree a deal with Roma to rescind his contract.
Reports in the capital on Tuesday are suggesting that the 33-year-old may head back to his homeland at the end of the season.
The former international stopper is contracted to the Giallorossi until June 2013 and a renewal at the Olimpico seems unlikely.
Flamengo have openly admitted in the past that they would like to re-sign the man who spent six years in their first team squad before a 2002 move to Bayer Leverkusen.
Juan transferred to Italy in 2007 when Roma completed a €6.4m swoop for his signature.
The veteran has struggled with fitness and form this season which have limited him to just 16 Serie A games so far.
Roma could replace Juan with Cagliari stoppers Michele Cannini and Davide Astori.
