Palermo expect Fiorentina to take up their option to sign Mattia Cassani outright once his loan deal expires.
The right-back joined the outfit in the summer for an initial €2m, with the understanding that the Viola could keep him for a further €5m.
“Fiorentina have an option to keep him and I think they will take that opportunity,” Rosanero Vice-President Guglielmo Micciche told Radio Toscana.
“Cassano is a good player who could still offer a lot to the Viola. There are never any negative surprises when it comes to him.
“He was an untouchable in the Palermo team and we only sold him because he wanted a new experience.”
Cassani, 28, has had an injury affected campaign which has limited him to just 19 Serie A appearances so far.
The former Juventus player is hoping to be a part of the Italy squad for Euro 2012.
