In-form Inter striker Diego Milito has averaged a goal every 90 minutes since the start of 2012 – not bad for a Bidone d’Oro winner.
However, Milito has responded to that December embarrassment with a flurry of goals for Internazionale.
His brace against Siena on Wednesday saw him reach 17 goals in 17 games played during 2012 so far. Those strikes have come over a time span of 1,543 minutes – an average of one every 90.7.
Nobody in the peninsula has done better given that Napoli’s Edinson Cavani has bagged 15 in that time, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic of Milan has celebrated 14.
Milito has scored 16 in Serie A and one in the Champions League since the start of the new solar year.
The former Genoa striker has 20 goals in the top flight this season, the same as Udinese’s Antonio Di Natale and just three shy of Ibra’s 23.
It is the sixth time in his career that Milito has struck at least 20 goals in a League season.
