Fiorentina will reportedly make a decision on who to appoint as their new sporting director at some stage next week.
The Viola are looking for a transfer guru given that the much-criticised Pantaleo Corvino will leave in the summer when his contract expires.
According to numerous sources, including the Corriere dello Sport, Gabriele Oriali is the favourite to be handed the role.
Oriali, who played in midfield for the outfit between 1983 and 1987, is a candidate given his past experience.
The 1982 World Cup winner most recently worked for Inter before his controversial exit in the summer of 2010.
The Viola have also been linked with Chievo Verona’s Giovanni Sartori, a man who has been with the Flying Donkeys since 1992.
Fiorentina are expected to sit down and discuss the matter in some detail after next Wednesday’s Serie A game against Roma.
