Former Lazio boss Giuseppe Materazzi wouldn’t be surprised to see Federico Marchetti and Stefano Mauri at Euro 2012.

“Marchetti and Mauri are two players worthy of the Italian national side,” Materazzi, father of former Inter stopper Marco, told Radio Mana Mana.

“They are the two best Italian options currently in the Biancocelesti squad.”

The pair were seen by Italy boss Cesare Prandelli earlier today as he attended a Lazio training session as part of his tour of Italian clubs.

Goalkeeper Marchetti has won eight caps for his country, but has not appeared for the Azzurri since the 2010 World Cup when he filled in for the injured Gigi Buffon.

Meanwhile Mauri, who is now back after being sidelined with injury, has won 11 caps – five of them under Prandelli.
