Milan still contenders, says Ambrosini

Milan veteran Massimo Ambrosini doesn’t understand why there is so much scepticism about his side’s chances of winning the Scudetto.

The Rossoneri were being touted as favourites for the title until a draw with Catania and a loss to Fiorentina saw them surrender a four-point advantage.

“Doubt about us has been created in recent times and I don’t think that is right,” stated the central midfielder to Sky Sport Italia. “After all, Juventus are only one point ahead of us…

“All we are focused on though is doing what is necessary on the field of play. We are not interested in words.”

While the Old Lady are unbeaten, Ambrosini is confident that Zlatan Ibrahimovic can fire his side to the title.

“Zlatan is a leader and he has an important role for the team,” added the 34-year-old. “He never steps back from that responsibility.

“He was very important to our Scudetto success last season and he can do the same for us again this time around.”

The former Juventus and Inter player is the Serie A top scorer thanks to his 23 strikes this term.
