Relegation threatened Genoa have confirmed that Gigi De Canio is their new boss after Alberto Malesani was sacked for the second time this season.
“De Canio is the new Coach of Genoa,” stated President Enrico Preziosi to Radio Anch’io lo Sport. “He’ll take charge of his first training session this morning.”
Malesani was only recalled to the Rossoblu hotseat on April 2 to replace Pasquale Marino – the man who succeeded him in December.
De Canio, who left Lecce last summer, returns to Genoa for the last five games of the season after bossing them during the 203-04 Serie B campaign.
He’ll make his debut on the bench on Wednesday when the Grifone, just one point above the relegation zone, will travel to Milan.
