Enrico Preziosi has revealed what he has tasked incumbent Coach Gigi De Canio to bring to Genoa in their bid to avoid the drop.

The Grifone are without a win since the first week of February for a run of form that has seen them slide down the table to 17th place.

After defeat at home to Siena at the weekend left the team just a point ahead of Lecce, Preziosi took action to replace Alberto Malesani with De Canio.

A day before the team’s trip to San Siro to face title-chasing Milan, Preziosi reflected on what he hopes De Canio can bring to the Grifone’s troubled situation.

“I do not believe in miracles,” began the club President on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“The only miracle lies in finding our values – we have lost ambition, confidence and peace of mind. We don’t deserve this League position on the basis of the individual quality in our squad.

“I have asked for De Canio to bring in serenity and spirit. We must fight for these last few games.”

The President reflected on the fallout from the weekend’s chaos, and suggested that he felt hurt by a lack of support from the rest of the game.

“The disappointment of last Sunday has not yet passed, it was heartbreaking. There is a certain humiliation that remains for those who experienced it.

“This abuse is a form of violence, it does unspeakable moral damage. We have not had a word of comfort from the institutions, only blame.

“I would expect a message of solidarity, but unfortunately we take what has come instead. We are a club of good people, we feel isolated, but perhaps this isolation will do us good and help us to regroup and regain the right attitude.

“We will rely on our own strength. Certainly we will encounter an angry Milan, but we’ll play out of our skins until the last second.”

Preziosi admitted today that he would consider walking away from Genoa in the summer.
