Bologna’s Alessandro Diamanti hasn’t given up hope of making the Italy squad for the European Championship.

“Being called up by Italy is my dream,” the attacking midfielder stated. “I’ll try to convince boss Cesare Prandelli to select me until the very last minute of the very last game of the season.”

Prandelli gave Diamanti his one and only cap at international level in the 1-1 draw with Romania back in November 2010.

Diamanti was again on the scoresheet yesterday when his goal ensured a 1-1 draw for his side against Siena.

The 28-year-old has netted six times in 27 League games for the Rossoblu.

“I’ve already told the club that I want to stay here,” added the player who is co-owned with Brescia. “It will be up to them at the end of the season to decide my future.”
