Roberto Donadoni has backed up his President’s assertion that Parma could qualify for Europe this season, such has been their form.
The Ducali have won five of their last six games to put aside initial relegation fears, shoot up the table and as Donadoni admits, teeter on the brink of Europa League qualification.
“Could we qualify for Europe? It is a legitimate consideration,” admitted the Coach about his team who sit eight points off the final place in the League that would guarantee qualification.
“We are approaching this final run in the season game by game, we know we have the tools to play like this and then at the end of the season we will do the sums.
“Up until a month ago everything was under discussion. Now that from this point of view the target for the season has been achieved, it has been replaced by the pleasure of playing, to have a taste of these players’ skills, for the sake of showing off for those who haven’t had much playing time during the season.
“My players are always proving themselves ready and motivated.”
Parma welcome Inter to the Tardini in Week 36’s midweek round of action.
“They are a team of great strength, they always have been, and then in this recent period they have found a great conviction.”
Donadoni also gave his opinion on Sebastian Giovinco’s future with the club.
“Nothing is yet to be determined, the club are thinking. We all hope that he will stay here, where he can still improve and grow even stronger.
“I think it is now important for him to increase the number of goals he has scored this season, not only to give more lustre to his work, but also to Parma’s championship.”
