Lecce have formally requested their game with Fiorentina be played simultaneously with Udinese-Genoa to safeguard the relegation battle.
The race to avoid Serie B is now essentially between Lecce and Genoa, as only one point separates them with three rounds to go.
“U.S. Lecce announce we have sent a formal request to the Lega asking for the Lecce-Fiorentina and Udinese-Genoa games in Week 37 of Serie A be played simultaneously.”
As things stand, Lecce-Fiorentina is meant to be on Saturday at 17.00 UK time, whereas Genoa don’t get to play until Sunday afternoon.
In recent days there were similar stories of Milan and Juventus wanting their matches moved to coincide too.
It was tradition in Serie A for the final four rounds of the campaign to be played with all games kicking off simultaneously, but this has been slowly abandoned due to pay-per-view television companies.
