Gennaro Gattuso has suggested that Milan will have to lower the average age of the squad ahead of next season.
The Rossoneri lost the Scudetto last night when they were defeated 4-2 to Inter and Juventus defeated Cagliari to win the title.
“We have to congratulate Juventus because they had a great season and they grew Sunday after Sunday,” the veteran midfielder stated. “We really have to take our hats off to them.
“We were penalised by a lot of injuries that I can’t explain the reason for and we didn’t have the same mentality as they had.
“This Milan squad is a little old and reinforcements are always needed – even when you win.”
Many of the side’s ageing stars are coming towards the end of their contracts, including the 34-year-old Gattuso who has missed most of the season with an eye problem.
“I’ll speak to Vice-President Adriano Galliani about my future,” added the former Rangers and Salernitana man.
“It’s been an odd season for me, but I still want to play. If that isn’t possible then I’ll stay at home with my kids and be a dad.
“It’s not important for me to have a contract, I just need to feel alive.”
