Prandelli hails Napoli campaign

Cesare Prandelli continued his tour of Italy’s clubs by visiting Napoli and hailed them as “a real club that wants to grow with a winning project.”

The Azzurri Coach is stopping by at each Serie A club’s training ground ahead of Euro 2012 to speak with tacticians and players.

“When a club achieves results that are superior to the ones they expected, it means this is a club seeking consistency,” explained Prandelli after lunch with Mazzarri.

“A real club that wants to grow with a winning project is the one that improves year after year. In that sense, Napoli have proved they have a winning project.”

Some fans have been disappointed by this season, especially as the 2-0 defeat to Bologna on Sunday seemed to rule them out of qualification for the Champions League.

“Napoli did well both in Serie A and on a European level. I am certain the club will construct a strong squad over time. The foundations are already solid thanks to some great work from Mazzarri,” continued Prandelli.

“If I was back at my old club Fiorentina and saw them achieve the same results as Napoli this season, then I’d be proud. Therefore I’d say this has certainly been a fantastic campaign.”

The Partenopei could also end it with silverware, as they face Juventus in the Coppa Italia Final on May 20.
