Siena have officially released director of sport Giorgio Perinetti to join Palermo and confirmed Coach Giuseppe Sannino’s future “can be resolved” in the next few days.
The club had already made it clear Perinetti would be allowed to leave this summer after negotiations with Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini.
“We cordially thank Perinetti, with whom we achieved extraordinary results over two years,” said President Massimo Mezzaroma after the contract was terminated by mutual consent.
There are strong reports Perinetti isn’t the only Siena figure going to Palermo, as Coach Sannino has also been heavily linked with the Sicilian side.
“We met yesterday, there is an open discussion that needs to be finalised. I think the situation can be resolved in the next few days.”
Meanwhile, Perinetti revealed why he had pushed for this return to Palermo, where he already worked in the 1990s and again in the early 2000s.
“I asked the President to anticipate the conclusion of our working relationship because I have strong family ties in Palermo and also consider it important to always seek new professional challenges.”
