Catania official Pietro Lo Monaco is convinced that Roma will try to sign Matias Silvestre from Palermo this summer.
Lo Monaco knows the player well given his past at Catania and the centre-back is being linked with a move away from the Rosanero just a year after his arrival.
“Silvestre is a very strong player and he is never distracted,” Lo Monaco, who is leaving Catania this summer, told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
“In two years he has scored 12 goals and he is today worth around €10m on the transfer market.
“Roma want him at the moment and I can guarantee that the Giallorossi will have a go for the player. I assume that Roma will soon contact Palermo.”
The Stadio Olimpico outfit have had problems in central defence this season. There are doubts over the futures of Simon Kjaer and Gabriel Heinze.
Silvestre is also understood to be of interest to Inter, as well as clubs in Germany and England.
