Stefano Pioli celebrated signing a contract extension at Bologna. “It was what I wanted.”
On Friday the Coach ended speculation by putting pen to paper on a new deal tying him to the Stadio Dall’Ara until June 2014.
“Staying at Bologna was what I wanted, so this makes me extremely happy,” said Pioli.
“With President Guaraldi and Director Zanzi there is a rapport of profound respect and we all believe that there’s the chance to work well together again, the same way we did this season.
“This Bologna side has strong foundations to build upon. I thank the club for the faith shown in me and am happy to still be part of the Rossoblu family.”
The tactician had been heavily linked with the Lazio job after Edy Reja confirmed his departure.
“Of course I was flattered by those rumours linking me with Lazio, but neither President Claudio Lotito nor director Igli Tare contacted me.”
