Ferrara names Under-21 squad

Marco Verratti has been named in the Italian Under-21 squad after he was cut from Italy’s initial 32-man Euro 2012 party.

The Pescara player has immediately been named in the Azzurrini set-up for the June 4 qualifier against the Republic of Ireland after leaving Coverciano yesterday.

Boss Ciro Ferrara has picked 22 players for next week’s tie, including Newcastle’s Davide Santon, Juventus midfielder Luca Marrone and Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy.

Goalkeepers – Francesco Bardi (Livorno), Simone Colombi (Juve Stabia), Mattia Perin (Padova).

Defenders – Luca Caldirola (Brescia), Marco Capuano (Pescara), Alessandro Crescenzi (Bari), Mattia De Sciglio (Milan), Giulio Donati (Padova), Simone Romagnoli (Pescara), Davide Santon (Newcastle Utd), Simone Sini (Livorno).

Midfielders – Marco Crimi (Grosseto), Alessandro Florenzi (Crotone), Luca Marrone (Juventus), Fausto Rossi (Brescia), Marco Verratti (Pescara), Federico Viviani (Roma).

Attackers – Stephan El Shaarawy (Milan), Manolo Gabbiadini (Atalanta), Ciro Immobile (Pescara), Lorenzo Insigne (Pescara), Alberto Paloschi (Chievo Verona).
