The uncapped Emanuele Giaccherini is delighted that he’s been named in the Italy squad after working under boss Cesare Prandelli for just three days.
The Juventus player had never been called-up to the Giro Azzurro in his career before he was included in the 32-man party earlier this month.
Because of Juventus’ Coppa Italia commitments, he didn’t join up with the group until Saturday but he has today been included in the Azzurri’s 23 for Euro 2012.
“He’s taken another step up,” agent Giulio Marinelli told TMW. “He raises the bar every year and he’s still surprising everyone.
“I’ve spoken to Emanuele and he is very happy, but he is already thinking about the future.
“He didn’t get to play in Serie A until he was 26, but he has managed to make up for lost time. In three days he convinced Prandelli to take him to the championships.”
Giaccherini joined Italian champions Juventus last summer in a co-ownership deal with Cesena following his fine debut campaign in the top flight with the Seahorses.
