As well as Zdenek Zeman and potentially Marco Verratti, Pescara could see another of their protagonists from this season end up at Roma.
With Zeman in advanced negotiations to return to the Giallorosso hotseat, rumours are linking several of the players to have shone under him at Pescara with a similar move.
Following on from midfielder Verratti being pushed to the Olimpico by his agent, Lorenzo Insigne’s representative has followed suit.
Owned by Napoli, Insigne rose to prominence on loan at Pescara last term as an attacking member of Zeman’s Serie B promotion-winning side and would apparently be keen to continue working with the tactician next season.
“Without a doubt, yes, Roma would be a preferred destination,” Antonio Ottaiano told vocegiallorossa.it.
“You don’t need to tell me, they are a large team. It would be a preferred choice. If Roma, as I read, hire Zeman then to my client the club would represent a first choice. They are a great club, who could have a great Coach who is very close to Insigne.”
Ottaiano was also less than concerned with Napoli’s reported eagerness to keep hold of the youngster themselves.
“They have other priorities. They are deciding the future of [Walter] Mazzarri, first of all. It is true that [Ezequiel] Lavezzi’s possible departure would free up a place in attack.
“In principle, the idea is that Insigne will now play in Serie A. Insigne, with Zeman, at Pescara would be perfect. Now that we are seeing the Coach move, then so too will our ratings.”
The agent looked to explain his client’s attachment to Zeman.
“It is an unbelievable attachment between Zeman and his players. Zeman’s wife is like a second mother to Insigne.
“And I add one thing - he seems cold, unfriendly and taciturn, but the Coach knows how to be warm like few else. He has true affection for his players, in particular my client, who dotes on him, literally.”
