Pescara President Daniele Sebastiani has admitted defeat in trying to keep boss Zdenek Zeman. “I knew I’d lose him to Roma.”

The Czech tactician has been in talks with the Giallorossi and a deal is close to completion at the end of a season where Zeman has led Pescara back into the top flight.

“Zeman will go to Roma, but he’ll leave a piece of his heart here,” Sebastiani told Radio Mana Mana Sport.

“It was inevitable that he would decide to join Roma because the chance of a return to the capital was too attractive for him.

“Over the last month he kept me up to date with all of the offers which he received and which he rejected, but when Roma called I knew that he wouldn’t give the same response.”

Zeman will succeed Luis Enrique at the Stadio Olimpico.

While the 4-3-3 Coach is on his way out, the Pescara supremo insisted that star midfielder Marco Verratti would not be following him through the exit.

“He’ll stay here for at least one more season and I hope that he can develop into our flag bearer,” Sebastiani added.

Roma, Juventus, Inter and Napoli have all been paired with the 19-year-old who has a valuation of €12m.
