The defender has been strongly linked with a return to his home country this summer, with the 33-year-old’s former club understood to be a preferred destination.

However, the player’s agent has reiterated Juan’s desire to remain in the Italian capital for next season, despite confirming that the Brazilian club have come in for him.

“His desire is to remain in the capital,” declared Michele Gerbino on Laroma24.

“Yes, there has been contact with Flamengo. Two months ago representatives from the Brazilian club visited and made their proposal as we did ours.

“There has been no contact though between the clubs that I know of. And, no-one has contacted me from Trigoria about a possible transfer for Juan.”

Roughly two months ago was the time that Gerbino first declared Juan’s intentions to stay with the Giallorossi.
