Ezequiel Lavezzi has confirmed his move to Paris Saint-Germain and reveals the “affection of the Napoli fans was sometimes excessive.”

The striker is set to complete his transfer to Ligue 1 this month for around €27m and hinted at why he wanted to leave the San Paolo.

“I don’t know much about the negotiations, as my agent is working on it,” Pocho told Il Mattino newspaper.

“I will always bring with me the affection of the Napoli fans, although it was sometimes excessive. Napoli really kick-started my career and took me to the international stage.

“Paris is very different to Naples. There is no sea, but there are many attractions and I imagine I’ll be able to enjoy my privacy more there.”

Lavezzi had revealed in previous interviews that being considered a hero in Naples had its downsides, as he was rarely able to leave his house for fear of being mobbed.

He even recalled having to shut down a shop when it was invaded by supporters and travelling in the trunk of his car to avoid being chased.
