Daniele De Rossi and Ignazio Abate are fitness doubts for the Euro 2012 semi-final against Germany on Thursday.

The Roman was replaced by Bologna’s Alessandro Diamanti in the second half of last night’s penalty win against England.

“My sciatic nerve is causing me some discomfort,” the midfielder noted. “After Diamanti’s penalty, I couldn’t even get up and embrace him.”

De Rossi, who started the first two games of the tournament in a back-three, is now a major concern for the last four tie.

He could be replaced by Paris Saint-Germain’s Thiago Motta or Milan’s Antonio Nocerino in Italy’s 4-3-1-2.

Meanwhile, boss Cesare Prandelli also has some concerns over the right-back position for this week’s game.

Abate was taken off on Sunday evening because of a muscle problem in his leg. Christian Maggio, his substitute, was then booked and will be suspended for the semi.

Torino’s Angelo Ogbonna, usually a centre-back or a left-back, could be used as an emergency right-back if necessary.

Juventus stopper Giorgio Chiellini is also still a doubt given that he missed last night’s epic encounter with a hamstring issue.
