Serie A side Palermo are on the verge of signing Uruguayan international midfielder Egidio Arevalo Rios.
The Rosanero initially showed an interest in the 29-year-old during the January transfer window, but no deal was done.
However, Rios is now very close to moving to the Sicilian club with a €3m fee apparently already agreed with Mexican club Tijuana.
Before completing the deal, Palermo will have to sell Edgar Alvarez – possibly to Dinamo Bucharest – in order to free up a non-EU spot.
Rios, who has played for clubs such as Penarol, Danubio and Botafogo, won the 2011 Copa America with his country.
