Roma have officially signed Corinthians star Dodo on a five-year contract after he passed his medical.

The Brazilian flew in on Monday for the final talks and to undergo fitness tests.

“A.S. Roma confirm a five-year contract with the player Jose Rodolfo Pires Ribeiro (Dodo), which runs from today until June 30 2017.

“The player has come from S.C. Corinthians Paulista, with whom he rescinded his contract by mutual consent when signing the agreement with A.S. Roma.”

The left-back had been on the verge of a move to Manchester United at the age of 17, but that transfer was halted by FIFA because of his age.

Dodo is back to full fitness after damaging knee ligaments in November 2011.
