Marco Branca has revealed that Diego Forlan’s Inter career is close to ending, with his contract set to be rescinded imminently.
The Uruguayan was signed from Atletico Madrid for €5m a year ago, but struggled for form, fitness and to play in his preferred position whilst with the Nerazzurri.
Subsequently linked with a departure this summer, his employers are keen to cancel his contract, so as to save on his €3.5m-a-year contract, something that sporting director Branca confirmed is close to occurring.
“We are very close to reaching an agreement for the termination of his contract,” Branca told the Gazzetta dello Sport on Thursday.
