Aurelio De Laurentiis could find himself in hot water after the Italian Football Federation confirmed they were investigating comments he allegedly made.

The Napoli President spoke to journalists yesterday about transfer rumours involving Edinson Cavani and was particularly scathing in his delivery, calling the reporters ‘peasants’.

Their union responded with a public statement last night, calling out FIGC and the Lega Serie A to take action on the filmmaker for bringing the world of Italian football and their profession into disrepute.

FIGC have seemingly taken notice, as confirmed by a brief statement released today.

“The Federal Prosecutor’s office has opened a file against the President of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis, in reference to statements made to the Press on July 4 outside the Assembly of the Lega Serie A in Milan.”
