Diego Forlan’s expected split with Inter has now been confirmed, freeing the player to complete his move to Internacional.
Reports this afternoon suggested that the Uruguayan had agreed to sever ties with the Nerazzurri, after a difficult 12 months together. Soon after, Brazilian outfit Internacional announced that they had signed the veteran.
Confirmation has now come through that Inter have cancelled Forlan’s contract, meaning he is officially free to join Internacional.
“FC Internazionale communicates that it has deposited at the offices of the Lega Serie A documentation of the termination of the contract with Diego Forlan,” read a brief statement released on their official website.
Forlan was bought from Atletico Madrid last August for a fee of €5m. His contract with the Italians had an annual salary of €3.5m and had a year left to run.
