Castan eager for Roma chance

Leandro Castan is confident that he will be able to prove his worth at Roma once he completes his move from Corinthians.

“I’m joining Roma to take a step forward in my career, but I know that it will not be easy,” stated the 25-year-old.

“It will be an important opportunity for me. I will be playing at the highest level, but I think I can do that well.

“Serie A is a strong championship, but I hope that I will be able to play in the Europa League and Champions League while I am there.”

Castan, an uncapped Brazilian stopper, is required by the capital club given their problems at centre-back last term.

The South American started his career at Atletico Mineiro, before moves to Helsingborgs in Sweden and Brazil’s Gremio Barueri.

The player helped Corinthians win the Copa Libertadores this season.

Roma failed to qualify for European football under previous boss Luis Enrique. They are now coached by Zdenek Zeman who employs a 4-3-3.
