Pippo Inzaghi has wished Milan well as the youngest Diavolo squad for a decade today starts pre-season training.
“It was a special moment every time I returned to Milanello for the first day of training,” he wrote on the club’s official website.
“Seeing all the fans outside the gates cheering us on always gave me such a boost,” continued the ex-striker.
“After 11 years, it is a strange feeling not being there and I am still trying to get used to the sensation.
“I really just wanted to wish everybody at Milan good luck and especially to all my former teammates who are about to start a new season.
The Stadio Meazza giants also waved goodbye to the likes of Alessandro Nesta, Rino Gattuso, Clarence Seedorf, Mark Van Bommel and Gianluca Zambrotta this summer.
The current average age of the squad is 27.18, the youngest since 25.7 in 2002-03. Their average last season was 29.52.
Inzaghi is currently considering whether to continue his playing career or accept a coaching role in the Milan youth sector.
