Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti has defended his club’s pursuit of Pescara youngster Marco Verratti.
The French giants are in pole position to sign the player for around €12m, despite the fact that the boy has never played in Serie A.
“At Paris, we need experienced players mixed with talented youngsters,” the former Milan and Juventus tactician stated.
“That is the reason why we are negotiating for Verratti. He is one of the best talents in the Italian game and could be the future of this club.”
Playmaker Verratti, 19, was also wanted by Juventus and Napoli, but neither club could agree a deal with newly-promoted Pescara.
