Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed that the club have handed Gianluca Grava a new contract.

The veteran, 35, was a free agent after his previous deal at the Stadio San Paolo expired at the end of last month.

“I spoke with Grava this morning,” De Laurentiis told Radio Marte. “We renewed his contract for another 12 months.

“Boss Walter Mazzarri and sporting director Riccardo Bigon understand that Grava puts his faith at our service and I agreed with them.”

The defender is highly-regarded at the San Paolo given that he initially joined the outfit while they were in Serie C back in 2005.

He’s also played for Casertana, Turris, Ternana and Catanzaro in his career. He played six Serie A games last season, as well as one tie in the Champions League.
