Newly promoted Serie A side Sampdoria have no interest in signing Newcastle full-back Davide Santon.
“Santon has decided to go and play in a country where the football is different from ours,” Doria sporting director Pasquale Sensibile noted.
“He is a player who is not part of our transfer objectives.”
The 21-year-old was being linked with the Marassi outfit after the club decided to appoint Ciro Ferrara as their new boss.
Ferrara knows the former Inter player well as Santon was his captain while in charge of the Italian Under-21 side.
The defender joined Newcastle last summer and the Premiership club recently turned down an approach from Roma for his services.
